Directions from Albuquerque

From Santa Fe or Espanola take NM 502 to the Y split east of town; NM 502 continues through Los Alamos center, while NM 4 heads towards the Truck Route (East Jemez Road), White Rock and Bandelier. Either proceed through the LANL security checkpoint on the south side of Omega Bridge, (open to the public - no ID required), or take West Road at the traffic light just north of Omega Bridge which avoids the checkpoint entirely.

 

 

 

Directions from Albuquerque

Take Interstate 25 North to Santa Fe.

Take the St. Francis Drive Santa Fe exit, veering left to St. Francis Drive northbound.

Take St. Francis Drive to its second intersection with Paseo de Peralta (see map) and turn right onto Paseo de Peralta.

Follow Paseo de Peralta to Bishop Lodge Road and turn left onto Bishop Lodge Road.

Then turn right at Artist Road (which becomes Hyde Park Road) and follow to the top of the mountain.

Directions from Albuquerque

Take I-25 through Santa Fe towards Taos (if you're not planning on seeing Santa Fe you can take the Santa Fe Relief Route - NM 599). Take Hwy. 285/68 through Espanola and the canyon that runs along the Rio Grande into Taos.  Once you get through Taos, head north on NM 522 to Questa, then make a right on Highway 38 towards Red River.

 

Directions from Albuquerque

Take I-25 South to HWY 380. HWY 380 East to HWY 37. Turn South or right on HWY 37 and follow until it intersects with HWY 48. Turn right or South on HWY 48 and proceed to Ski Run Road on the North side of Ruidoso and proceed 11 miles to the Ski Apache parking lot.

Sipapu Ski and Summer Resort, New Mexico's year-round destination for Family Friendly, Family Fun, is conveniently located on Highway 518, just 20 scenic miles southeast of Taos in northwestern New Mexico.


 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Preserve will be open for skiing and snowshoeing activities on the following dates from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM:

•December 22-24, 29-31
•January 1-2, 6-8, 13-16, 20-22, 27-29
•February 3-5, 10-12, 17-20, 24-26
•March 2-4

Driving Instructions

From Albuquerque via Los Alamos:
  • Take I-25 north to Route 599 (Santa Fe Relief Route) - follow signs on 599 north to Los Alamos- Espanola).
  • In Pojoaque, follow signs to Los Alamos and Hwy 502.
  • You can take the "truck route" to Highway 4 below Los Alamos or drive through Los Alamos and follow signs to "Jemez Mtns." (State Hwy. 4)
  • (If you pass through Los Alamos proper, take Trinity Drive to Diamond. Take a left on Diamond, then a right on West Jemez Road to the intersection with State Highway 4. Take a right [away from Bandelier National Monument], following the highway up and into the Jemez Mountains.)
  • The Preserve is 18 miles up Highway 4 from Los Alamos. Driving time from Albuquerque's Big-I is approximately 2.5 hours.

From Albuquerque via Jemez Springs:

  • Take I-25 North and Exit on to Highway 550 (Farmington Highway - old Hwy 44).
  • In San Ysidro, take Hwy 4 to Jemez Pueblo and Jemez Springs.
  • Follow Highway 4 at fork at La Cueva (stay right).
  • Preserve is about 22 miles from Jemez Springs. Look for the Main Gate at Mile Marker 39.2.
  • Driving time from Big-I is about 2 to 2.5 hours.
